Free head-shape scan · No referral needed · Ages 0–18 months
Worried about your baby's flat spot?
Get a free 3D scan & a straight answer.
In about 15 minutes, a certified pediatric orthotist will scan your baby’s head (no radiation), show and explain to you exactly what’s going on, and tell you honestly whether a helmet would help. Many babies we see don’t need one.
Usually Seen Within 2 weeks
First, the thing every parent needs to hear:
THIS ISN’T SOMETHING YOU DID.
Babies’ skulls are soft on purpose, and they spend a lot of time on their backs because that’s the safest way to sleep. Nearly half of all infants develop some flattening. Most of it improves on its own with tummy time and repositioning, and roughly one in ten babies with a flat spot ends up needing a helmet. The only way to know which group your baby is in is to measure, and we’ll do that for free.
Our experienced team provides personalized care and guides families through every step of the process.
YOur Game Plan
Your free visit, step by step
We Scan
A quick 3D scan of your baby’s head using a handheld camera. No radiation, no touching, no mold. You hold your baby the whole time. It takes about a minute, even with a wiggly one.
We Explain
Your orthotist walks you through the scan on screen, in plain language: how much asymmetry there is, where it is, and what usually happens at your baby’s age.
You Decide
If repositioning is likely to work, we’ll show you how and send you home with a plan. If a helmet is the right call, we’ll explain what it involves and check your insurance before you commit to anything.
No referral needed. No cost. No pressure to decide on the spot.
If a helmet is needed,
sooner is easier
A baby’s head grows fastest in the first year, and a helmet works by gently guiding that growth. That’s why treatment ideally starts between about 4 and 6 months and typically lasts a few months, with a monthly check to adjust the fit. Past about 12 months, growth slows and a helmet has much less to work with. The best time to find out is now, while a scan costs nothing and every option is still open.

THE TALEE HELMET
If your baby does need a helmet, this is the one we chose
We fit the Talee, a cranial helmet that is 3D-printed from your baby’s own scan rather than cut from a foam block. Check out below to see why its clearly our helmet of choice.
LIGHTWEIGHT
thanks to 3D printing, extremely lightweight materials, and a thinner design made possible by interchangeable shells, this is the lightest helmet we have found on the market. That means a more comfortable experience for your little one.
BREATHABLE
Hot skin marks and sweating cause the most common skin complications with helmet use. Talee’s ventilation is substantionally more than other helmets, not just because of how much there is, but because the ventilation continues through the foam liner as well.
2-in-1 Helmet combo
The 2 stage feature provides the controlled growth and improvement of 2 helmets in a single orthosis. 98% of talee fittings only need one helmet for the entire treatment.
WHY GOAL?
Pediatric Orthotists, NOT HELMET SALES PEOPLE
Pediatric Specialists
Helmets are one thing we do; caring for growing kids is the whole job. Our clinicians are certified pediatric orthotists who spend their days on bracing, gait and development, which means when we look at your baby’s head shape we’re looking at your baby, not just a product to fit.
You're JOINING A TEAM
TEAM GOAL is all about a community where families, clinicians, and insurance providers work together to help create the biggest wins possible. We believe in education, celebrating the wins, and helping out beyond just handing over a device.
BECAUSE WE're JUST MORE FUN!
While Goal clinicians are some of the most professional and best trained pediatric specialists in the country, we also remember that we are working with kids…AND WE LOVE IT!
We hope our attitude is infectious, and we always try to have a good time, so that you and your child will also have a good time.

How much does a helmet cost?
This completely depends on your insurance and your deductible and out of pocket. Send us a text or phone call with your insurance company, and we can get you a more accurate estimate.
Will my insurance cover the helmet?
As long as your child’s measurements show that a helmet is needed, most insurances cover the device. Unfortunately Tricare and some Cigna plans do not cover it no matter what.
How long does treatment usually last?
Treatment lasts 3-4 months in most cases. Correction only occurs during head growth, so it all depends on how much and when that growth occurs
Does my baby wear the helmet all day?
Your infant will wear the helmet 23 hours a day, practically all the time, except for a small portion of time each day to let the skin breathe.
What insurance plans do you take?
We accept all major insurances in Utah including all Medicaid plans and the most common Utah insurance companies
